Mike Vrabel

Head Coach, New England Patriots (NE).

Quick Facts

Background

Mike Vrabel was introduced as the 16th head coach in Patriots history on Jan. 13, 2025. A three-time Super Bowl champion with New England as a player and a 2023 Patriots Hall of Fame inductee, he is the second former Patriots player to become the team's head coach. Vrabel has 14 years of coaching experience, including 11 in the NFL and three at Ohio State. He was the Tennessee Titans' head coach from 2018-23, leading them to two division titles and three playoff appearances, including an AFC Championship Game appearance in 2019, and was named NFL Coach of the Year in 2021 after the Titans claimed the AFC's top seed at 12-5. He served as linebackers coach and then defensive line coach at Ohio State (2011-13), linebackers coach (2014-16) and defensive coordinator (2017) with the Houston Texans, and spent 2024 as a consultant with the Cleveland Browns.

Scheme & Fantasy Angle

Vrabel's teams emphasize a physical, run-first identity built around effort and ball control. His Titans offenses leaned heavily on the run game, producing a sustained workhorse role for RB Derrick Henry across multiple top-five rushing units — a profile fantasy managers should weigh when evaluating the Patriots' backfield usage.
