2026 Outlook
Jarquez Hunter was traded from the Los Angeles Rams to the Miami Dolphins on August 27, 2026, in exchange for WR Tutu Atwell. After a redshirt rookie year with the Rams (5 games played, 22 snaps all on special teams), Hunter gets a fresh start with Miami's backfield and a real chance at fantasy relevance. Sean McVay made clear he didn't trust Hunter with the little things required in his system—Hunter played zero snaps on offense throughout the 2025 season despite roster inclusion, and was deep into preseason games this summer. Rather than cut him outright, McVay traded him away to free a roster spot. With the Rams, he was buried behind Kyren Williams, Blake Corum, and Ronnie Rivers—unlikely to contribute in 2026. Miami is looking to build depth around De'Vone Achane, giving Hunter an opportunity to carve out a complementary role. Hunter was a 4th-round pick (Auburn, 2025) known for elite speed and homerun capability (6.4 yards per carry at Auburn, 4.44 40-yard dash). His fantasy upside depends on injuries ahead of him, but the trade signal suggests the Dolphins see untapped potential and believe they can get more from him than McVay could in LA (per 5 quick thoughts on Rams trading Jarquez Hunter for Tutu Atwell, Dolphins trade WR Tutu Atwell to Rams for RB Jarquez Hunter).
