MIN Kyle Van Noy
NFL edge rusher / linebacker. Position: EDGE/LB. Team: Minnesota Vikings (pending).
Quick Facts
- Position: EDGE / Linebacker
- Team: Minnesota Vikings
- Age: 35
- Draft: 2014 (No. 40 pick, Detroit Lions)
2026 Outlook
Veteran pass rusher signing with the Minnesota Vikings for his 13th NFL season. At 35, Van Noy offers experience and positional versatility, reuniting with DC Brian Flores, with whom he previously worked in New England (2016) and Miami (2020). After recording 23.5 sacks in three seasons with Baltimore (2023-25), Van Noy provides depth and veteran pass-rush experience for Minnesota. Starting on the practice squad to ramp up after missing training camp. Expected to play a backup/rotation role rather than a featured position, but his presence strengthens the Vikings' edge group (per Kyle Van Noy signs with Vikings for 13th season).
September 2 signing rationale — addressing edge depth: Minnesota's edge depth had been thin for months, with the organization preparing for this moment since spring free agency. The urgency accelerated after Tyler Batty's torn ACL during training camp. Van Noy's arrival reunites him with Brian Flores, with whom he's won two Super Bowls (New England), creating immediate familiarity with defensive terminology. A two-time Super Bowl winner on the practice squad does not stay there long—expect elevation to active roster and rotation snaps within weeks (per NFL Training Camp Report: Lions Put Pacheco on IR - Stokastic).
Role / Depth Chart
Backup edge rusher, rotation player. Likely to compete for reps as a pass-rush specialist in defined packages rather than a full-time starter.
Injury Status
No current injuries noted.
