Minkah Fitzpatrick

NFL safety. Position: Safety (S). Team: New York Jets.

Quick Facts

  • Position: Safety (S)
  • Team: New York Jets (acquired 2026)
  • Career: Three-time All-Pro, 21 career interceptions

2026 Outlook

Minkah Fitzpatrick reunites with new Jets defensive coordinator Brian Duker, who previously served as the pass game coordinator for the Miami Dolphins. The Jets recorded zero interceptions in 2025 across 120 total games — an historic defensive failure. Fitzpatrick brings immediate coverage prowess with 21 career picks and is expected to transform the Jets' pass defense. Though he recorded just two interceptions from 2023-25 (an unusually low rate compared to his earlier career), his all-Pro pedigree and pairing with Duker's scheme should elevate the Jets' secondary from worst to league-average at minimum (per The difference-makers who can help Jets turn things around for Aaron Glenn in Year 2).

Beyond on-field contributions, Fitzpatrick is providing veteran mentorship to the young secondary, helping integrate draft pick D'Angelo Ponds and newly signed cornerback Nahshon Wright. Coordinator Duker noted that "Fitzpatrick carries himself in a way that naturally promotes leadership" and serves as a natural example to younger players (per Nahshon Wright ready to 'prove' himself and help Jets finally end interception drought).
