2026 Outlook
Oweh has expressed enthusiasm for new Commanders defensive coordinator Daronte Jones' defensive scheme, particularly the attack-oriented mentality it brings. The elite contract ($96M/$68M guaranteed with $50.6M fully guaranteed at signing) signals Washington's confidence in Oweh as a centerpiece of their defensive rebuild. Under Jones' aggressive scheme, Oweh projects to thrive as a primary edge rusher. (per NFC East News: Latest Roster Moves, Training Camp Previews, and Team Takeaways)
Oweh is positioned to deliver significant sack upside in Daronte Jones' aggressive new defensive scheme, which emphasizes disguised blitzes at league-leading rates and five-man fronts. The Commanders ranked 32nd overall defensively in 2025, so the addition of speed off the edge from Oweh and K'Lavon Chaisson addresses a critical gap. Jones' Brian Flores–inspired scheme should unlock Oweh's pass-rush abilities, creating havoc against quarterbacks. The main concern is whether the front can consistently win with a great rush, as many defensive additions are scheme multipliers rather than individual talents (per Who Will Have the NFL's Best Defense in 2026? - The Ringer).
