2026 Outlook

Gordon is competing with Jaylen Wright for the backup role behind De'Von Achane. In his second season, Gordon has shown marked improvement from his rookie offseason, finding year two "way easier" as he's acclimated to NFL pace and training demands. Under first-year coach Jeff Hafley, Gordon is being developed as an every-down back rather than pigeonholed into short-yardage duty. Hafley explicitly stated: "I want Ollie to compete to be an every-down back, and I think he's capable of doing it. When Ollie has flashed and he knows what he's doing and he hits it, he has great speed, he has great size, and he can catch the ball out of the backfield, too." This expanded role opportunity suggests Gordon could see more three-down snaps if he wins the backup competition. His draft year (2025, sixth round after winning Doak Walker Award) and Hafley's confidence create pathways to late-game snaps even as Achane handles bulk of carries. Role / Depth Chart

Competing for backup RB role behind De'Von Achane. Reportedly has a slight edge over Jaylen Wright after OTA/minicamp.
