Background

Dom Capers joined the Browns as senior defensive assistant in 2026, marking his 40th season coaching in the NFL. He has served as a head coach or defensive coordinator for 25 seasons, including head-coaching stints with Carolina (1995-98) and Houston (2001-05) — the first-ever head coach for both franchises — and defensive coordinator roles with Green Bay (2009-17), Miami, Jacksonville and Pittsburgh. He was named the 1996 Associated Press NFL Coach of the Year and won Super Bowl XLV as the Packers' defensive coordinator.
