Background

John Pagano is entering his first season as the team's Outside Linebackers Coach after two seasons as the team's Senior Defensive Assistant. Pagano joined the Commanders with 32 years of coaching experience, most recently as special assistant to the head coach at the University of Connecticut. He served as outside linebackers coach for the Denver Broncos (2020-21) and senior defensive assistant/outside linebackers coach for the Houston Texans (2018-19), and spent 15 seasons with the San Diego Chargers in various defensive roles, including defensive coordinator from 2012-16. A Boulder, Colo. native, Pagano played linebacker at Colorado Mesa University for four seasons (1985-88).
