Luke Johnson joins Washington after spending last season with Colorado State as the team's defensive line coach and the previous season with Baylor as a defensive graduate assistant, where he was elevated to quality control coach and assistant linebackers coach within the same season. Johnson began his coaching career at Wofford in 2020 as a defensive quality control coach before being elevated to outside linebackers coach in 2021, and later coached at Sioux Falls as linebackers coach and special teams coordinator. A native of Milan, Illinois, Johnson played four seasons (2016-2019) at UW-Platteville as a cornerback.
