Background
Tommy Rees was named the Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator on Jan. 22, 2026, joining after two seasons with the Cleveland Browns. He served as Cleveland's tight ends coach/pass game specialist in 2024 before being promoted to offensive coordinator for 2025, working collaboratively with Head Coach Kevin Stefanski to build the offense and taking over play-calling duties in Week 10. Before the NFL, Rees was offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Alabama in 2023, helping the Crimson Tide win the SEC championship, and spent six seasons at Notre Dame (2017-22), rising from quarterbacks coach to offensive coordinator and developing future NFL players such as Michael Mayer, Tommy Tremble and Kyren Williams. He began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Northwestern (2015) and was an offensive assistant with the San Diego Chargers in 2016. As a player he was one of the most prolific quarterbacks in Notre Dame history.
Scheme & Fantasy Angle
Rees took over play-calling for a Stefanski offense that produced strong rookie production in Cleveland (RB Quinshon Judkins, TE Harold Fannin Jr.) and a Pro Bowl, franchise-record receiving season from Jerry Jeudy in 2024 — signs of a system that can feed both the run game and a lead receiver.
