2026 Outlook

Reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year coming off a 1,000-yard rookie season. Remains the centerpiece of the Panthers passing attack alongside Jalen Coker (returning from injury) and newly drafted third-round deep threat Chris Brazzell II. The addition of Brazzell should create more space for McMillan by forcing safeties and corners to account for vertical speed, with head coach Dave Canales noting the value of having a "real burner" on the roster (per Panthers OTAs Top Offensive Storylines).

Entering year two with added confidence and physical preparation. McMillan added 17 pounds of muscle during the offseason to better absorb contact and handle the 18-game grind. Fantasy draft outlook (July 11, 2026): RotoBaller flags McMillan as overvalued at his current ADP of WR19. His rookie 1,000-yard season masks underlying efficiency concerns: he ranked 23rd in targets per game (7.0), 32nd in yards per route run (1.94), and 34th in targets per route run (0.23). His 0.41 expected fantasy points per route run ranked just 39th. These numbers came despite nearly a seven-game head start on teammate Jalen Coker due to quad injury. When Coker returned and got reps, he actually outperformed McMillan—the Panthers clearly like Coker, as they handed him a three-year, $35 million extension. The Panthers' passing game ranks in the bottom five for pass yards per attempt (courtesy of QB Bryce Young's inconsistency), and McMillan must compete with Coker for targets while dealing with a run-heavy scheme. Injury Status

Foot injury during OTA practice (early June), but McMillan indicated confidence about full participation in training camp starting mid-July. Expected to be ready for preseason and Hall of Fame Game opening (Aug. 6) against Arizona Cardinals. Charlotte Observer's roster projection (June 16) noted McMillan as fully healthy, locked in to lead WR room after being sidelined during OTA practices. During mandatory minicamp (June 4), McMillan remained limited due to minor foot soreness from OTAs. The team took a precautionary approach, keeping the rookie receiver out of full practices while working with trainers to prevent the issue from becoming a lingering problem.
